Sportpesa Quins claimed their second win in a row after thumping Mwamba RFC 48-16 in a Kenya Cup tie staged at the RFUEA grounds on Saturday,9 December.
Quins was on the front foot from the onset after Brian Beckham capitalised on poor defending from Mwamba to go over for a converted try before Michael Agevi cut the deficit through a penalty kick.
Quins had a chance to extend their advatantage but Kelvin Njugi missed a three pointer bu Ronald Mussaja made ammends with an unconverted try to hand Quis a 12-3 lead.
Quins third try of the match came courtesy of Stanley Lunani who dashed over the chalk,Njugi coolly slotting in the conversion to hand the Ngong Road based side a 19-3 advantage.
Agevi would drill in Mwamba’s second penalty of the contest but Peter Misango and Beckham would respond with five pointers to send Quins 29-6 up at halftime.
Stanley Lunani would seal his brace after resumption,landing Quins’ sixth try of the atch but Lyle Asiligwa sent his conversion kick onto the post.
Asiligwa made ammends for his earlier miss,converting Malcolm Onsando’s try to put Quins 41-6 up.Asiligwa would then yet again convert Eric Shikuku’s try after the Mwamba backline was caught napping yet again.
Mwamba struck two tries late in the match but that was not enough as Quins held on to claim a well deserved 48-16 win.
At the Ruaraka Sports Club,hosts KCB picked their third winning bonus point of the seson after dismantling university side Blak Blad with a 70-16 scoreline.
