Homeboyz fine form in the Kenya Cup season continued after they beat Impala Saracens 39-21 in a match staged at Jamhuri Grounds.
Mohammed Omollo contributed 20 points as Homeboyz continued to impress. The clash dubbed Wekesa cup in memory of departed stars Peter and Andrew Wekesa saw Homeboyz dominate the opening 10 minutes but Michael Wanjala’s drop kick and Mohammed Omollo’s penalty kick went wide.
Omollo however got it right on his second attempt right and gave Homeboyz a lead but the lead was shortlived as Impala’s first forward move saw them score through Davies Makori while Xavier Kipnge’tich added the extras for a 7-3 lead.
Impala Saracens double the lead after Samuel Motari sped off from the half metre line went past Israel Soi and touched down a try that was converted by Kipng’etich.
Homeboyz were reduced to 14 men after William Diffu was sent to the naughty chair but they got on the scoresheet through Aaron Kelechi just before halftime.
In the second half, Omollo sneaked to the try box from a penalty and touched down before converting his own try.
Homeboyz push continued and Omollo scored and converted his second try giving the homeside a 22-14.
Subsitute Leon Adongo dived at the right corner for the gazelles and Vincent Mose added the extras for a 22-21 scoreline. Omollo on the other hand gave Homeboyz a slim advantage with another penalty.
Steve Otieno gave Homeboyz hopes of picking a win from the clash by adding a try on the scores. Subsitute Kelvin Masai converted it before Augustine Lugonzo Sprinted halfway the pitch and scored a converted try for a 39-21 win.
