Ahead of this weekend’s Cape Town 7s,Kenya  head coach Innocent Simiyu explained on why they settled for the trio of Oscar Ouma,Arthur Owira and Sam Muregi as replacements for Collins Injera and Dennis Ombachi.

Injera and Ombachi picked hamstring and ankle injuries respectively during the concluded Dubai 7s in which Shujaa fell short at the cup quarter finals, finishing 7th.

While Ouma is a seasoned campaigner with the team and also the vice skipper,Muregi and Owira will be making their debut at the world 7s series.

“Oscar brings leadership, experience and raw power to our game which will be very vital for a good start in Cape Town,”Simiyu is quoted on Kenya Rugby’s portal.

“Muregi adds pace to the team,  his understanding of the game and try scoring ability are second to none while Arthur has had a very good sevens season with his club KCB and his work-rate on the pitch will help us a lot at the breakdown,” he added.

At Cape Town 7s,Simiyu’s charges are set to renew their rivalry with hosts South Africa as the sides were drawn together in pool A.Other sides in the pool are France and Russia.
