Homeboyz Rugby beat Nondies RFC 29-21 in a Kenya Cup tie staged at Jamhuri Grounds on Saturday evening.
Homeboyz got their opening try after Patrick Ouko drove and touched down for a 5-0 lead but the conversion by Mohammed Omollo went wide.
Fidel Sinei replied with a penalty kick before Fidel Oloo touched down for an 8-5 lead. Sinei widened the gap with a conversion that took the scores to 10-5.
Homeboyz response came immediately with Omollo drilling in a penalty that saw the gap reduce two points. Dalmas Chituyi added Homeboyz second try while Nondies cut the gap with Sinei’s penalty.
Paul Murunga’s side third try came from Max Kange’ri and Omollo added the extras for a 20-13 lead at the break.
In the final half, Ouko got his brace and Omollo added two points as Homeboyz moved to 29 points . Nondies continued to fight back and a perfect run by Mark Ongayo saw him feed Moses Beki who dashed to score.
Sinei added another penalty to push the close to their reach but Homeboyz managed to hold on for a win.
