Sportpesa Quins reserve side saw off Nakuru II 23-18 in an Eric Shirley Shield match staged at the RFUEA grounds this Saturday,2 December.

Heading to the match,Quins II were out for redemption having narrowly lost to Homeboy on Tuesday while Nakuru II was awarded a walkover on matchday one after Kisii RFC failed to honour the fixture.

Pius Shiundu handed Quins the lead from a penalty kick before he converted Ayub Kimutai’s try to send his side 10-0 up.

The sides exchanged penalties with Nakuru grabbing their first points of the match before Shiundu extended Quins’ advantage with yet another three pointer.

Nakuru II reduced the deficit just before the break courtesy of an unconverted try as the match went to the interval with Quins holding a 13-8 lead.

Charles Njoroge extended Quins’ advantage after halftime before skipper Kevin Angote added Nakuru’s woes,as he scored Quins’ third try of the match off a rolling maul to send the Ngong Road based side 23-8 up.

Nakuru struck a converted try and a penalty but that was not enough as Quins II held on to claim their first win of the season.
