Sportpesa Quins came from 7-0 down to claim an emphatic 46-19 win over visiting Nakuru RFC in a Kenya Cup match on Saturday,2 December at the RFUEA grounds.
Nakuru opened the scoring after landing a converted try to go 7-0 up but Ronald Musajja would restore parity for Quins,going over the chalk before Kevin Njugi successfully converted.
Quins took the lead for the first time in the match,Kevin Njugi converting Tony Mutai’s try to send the Ngong Road based side 14-7 up.
The Nakuru defence which was showing signs of crambling was caught napping yet again,this time Peter Misango latching onto Isaac Adimo’s try before going over for an unconverted try,Quins leading 19-7.
Dennis Muhanji ensured Quins took an unassailable 26-7 advantage to halftime,as he went over the whitewash for his side’s fourth try of the match.
George Kimani and Moses Okendo score in quick succession after the restart,the latter’s try being successfully converted by Muita as Nakuru came to within 7 points of their opponents.
Kevin Njugi extended Quins lead to 29-19 from a penaltly before Eric Shikuku went over for yet another try.Njugi would then convert Lewis Olaka’s try to send the hosts 41-19 up.
Misango would seal a 46-19 win for Quins with an unconverted try,ensuring that the side claimed a bonus point on matchday two.
Meanwhile,defending champions KCB were in superb form,continuing with their fine start to the season as they beat hosts Kisii RFC 33-6 at the Gusii stadium.
