Kenya 7s kicked off their Dubai 7s campaign with a 29-15 victory over Canada 7s in match played on Friday morning.

Shujaa found themselves behind when Hiramana touched down for the side. Sammy Oliech however replied two minutes later with a converted try that saw Kenya 7s take a slim lead.

Collins Injera added Kenya’s second try at the fourth minute before Oscar Ayodi scored the third try that was converted by Oliech.

At the ninth minute the side was on the scoresheet again and  this time round it was Nondies star Dennis Ombachi who touched down for Kenya.

Injera completed his brace with a try at the 11 minutes that sent Kenya to a 29-5 lead. Canada went on to score two tries in the final two minutes but they weren’t enough to close the gap.

In another pool match, South Africa edged Uganda 19-10. Kenya will tackle South Africa while Uganda will take on Canada as round two matches kick off.
