Kenyatta University side Blak Blad started off the Kenya Cup campaign on a positive start beating Nondies 8-0 in a match played  at UON Grounds.

Despite the muddy surface, Blak Blad who were on a revenge mission after losing twice to Nondies last season started off  strongly. The students were able to pile pressure on the white shirts and their efforts paid off after the referee awarded a penalty and Kenya Simbas trialist Levy Amunga converted for a 3-0 lead.

Minutes later Amunga squandered a chance to double the scores from a close range. His penalty kick near 22 metre line went wide.

Michael Otieno’s side push continued and this time round Acadius Khwesa managed to break on the left wing and dived over the try line for the first try of the game.

Nondies continued to fight back but were caught napping just before halftime. Stormy Odhiambo outwitted Nondies backline, raced to the tryline but as he popped to his support man Hassan Ali the latter knocked the ball. As the teams headed out for halftime break Blad was leading 8-0.

In the final half, Nondies dominated the play, playing mostly in Blad’s half but they failed to get a single try. Blad were able to hold on for an 8-0 win.
