Impala Saracens Director of Rugby Fred Ollows says that University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine will be the team to beat in the 2017/18 championship season.

The students were relegated from the countrie’s top tier 15s league and they are set to start life in the championship when the new season gets underway this weekend and Ollows says that the Phelim Kidakwa-coached side will be no pushovers.

“From a basis of superficial view – but which does not hold solid during the season, Mean Machine RFC are the team to watch,”Ollows is quoted on the Impala Saracens portal.

“Menengai Oilers are just a step away from Kenya Cup promotion, but they will have to deal with Mean Machine & Western Bulls,”he noted.

Machine’s season kicks off with an away tie against Catholic Monks in what will be a University derby at the CUEA grounds on Saturday,25 November.
