Homeboyz RFC coach Paul Murunga says that their change in approach in the second half was key in securing them a win over Mean Machine in the Floodlit third place playoff last Saturday.

The Deejays withstood¬† Machine’s resilience to snatch a 34-22 win in a clash which¬†Leonard Mugaisi, Thomas Okidia, Nelson Sangurah, Israel Soi, Collins Shikoli and Stanley Isogol all went over the chalk.

“Machine were really stalwart in the first half, making things difficult for us.At some point the scoreline was tied and we had to make some changes which helped us to claim the win.Our change of tactical approach worked for us since we decided to avoid much contact but rather spread the ball,”Murunga told Scrummage.

Murunga had hinted that they will not be in action on matchday one of the Kenya Cup scheduled for this weekend. That means the side’s next assignment is on 1 December when they face Nondies in their Kenya Cup opener.
