Sportpesa Quins has clinched the plate title at the Impala Floodlit tournament after beating Strathmore Leos 33-22 on Saturday, 18 November.
Eric Shikuku handed Quins the lead after a fantastic build up that saw the fullback touch down under the posts for a converted try.
Strathmore responded courtesy of a touch down by Clinton Imbuye with Eugene Nzioka adding the extras.
Brian Obwaya went over to extend Quins’ lead but the conversion by Kevin Njugi went wide as Strathmore capitalized on a defensive error by Quins to take a 14-12 lead thanks to a converted try by George Buop.
Nzioka added to the students tally as he successfully converted a three-pointer from a tight angle.
Just before the break,Quins were awarded a penalty which was drlled in by Njugi as the clash went to halftime with Strathmore Leos holding narrow 17-15 advantage.
After the restart, Peter Misango redtoted Quins lead with a well taken try but Njugi failed to add the extras.
He would then make amends for his earlier miss, drilling in a penalty to take Quims lead to 23-17.
Quins extended their lead,touching down for a converted try at the corner before Strathmore hit their fourth try of the match.
Kevin Njugi would then seal the win for Quims through a penalty to hand them the plate title.
