Kenya 7s has been crowned 2017 Safland 7s champions after beating South Africa Select 19-12 on Saturday,11 November in Namibia. 

The sides had already met earlier in the last pool match with the South African Select side coming from behind to win 24-21.

Kenya managed three tries and two conversions against South Africa’s two tries and a single conversion.

Sammy Oliech opened the scoring, landing a try which was converted by Eden Agero before Willy Ambaka went over for Kenya’s second try to ensure Shujaa took a 12-0 lead at half-time.

South Africa pulled one back after resumption but Menengai Oilers youngster Sam Muregi extended Kenya’s lead after he dotted down for a try before Agero converted.

South Africa Select grabbed a late try late in the match but Shujaa held their nerves to win this season’s Safland 7s with a 19-12 scoreline.
