Kenya 7s has started the 2017 Safland 7s campaign on a winning note after edging hosts Namibia 12-0 this Friday, 10 October in Swakopmund.

Kenya managed two tries and a conversion as Namibia failed to register any points in the contest.

A patient build up saw Kenya draw first blood in the match courtesy of Herman Humwa but the ensuing conversion went wide as Shujaa took a slim 5-0 advantage at the interval.

Sammy Oliech squandered a great opportunity to extend Kenya’s advantage after receiving a great offload but he was adjudjed to have knocked on in the Namibia territory.

Oliech would then make ammends for his earlier miss as he capitalized on an error in the Namibia defence before diving over for a converted try, taking Shujaa’s lead to 12-0,a lead which the Will Webster coached side held on to the final whistle.

The Kenya 7s will lock horns with Zambia at 1940hrs EAT in their second match of the tournament.Day two will see the side come up against Bulls at 1100hrs and South Africa Select at 1400hrs.
