Homeboyz RFC came from 16-3 down at half-time to beat Sportpesa Quins 20-16 in the quarter final of the Impala Floodlit tournament this Saturday, 4 November at Impala grounds.
The clash kicked off with the sides exchanging penalties as Eric Shikuku drilled in before Kelvin Maasai squandered a similar chance to level matters.
Maasai would soon make ammends for his earlier miss as he showed class to tie the scores through a well taken drop-goal.
Last year’s semi-finalists Quins restored their advantage, Erick Shikuku slotting in his second penalty of the match to hand them a 6-3 lead.
Kenya Simbas international Isaac Adimo burst down the left wing to land the first try for Quins before Pius Shiundu bulldozed his way to touch down at the right corner, Quins leading 16-3 at half-time.
The second half witnessed a new look Homeboyz side as they pinned Quins in their own territory and they were rewarded when Kenya Simbas international Steve Otieno barged over the whitewash before Kelvin Maasai converted to take the scores to 16-10 in favour of Quins.
Mohammed Omollo completed the Deejays comeback as he dotted down down after Kelvin Maasai had done the Spade work before offloading to him.
Omollo would then put the icing on the cake for Paul Murunga’s charges as they sailed to next weekend’s semi finals with a 20-16 scoreline.
With the win, Homeboyz will now face last year’s finalists KCB in the last four as Quins is relegated to the plate.
