Blak Blad head coach Michael Tank Otieno admits that non-existence of age grade rugby structures could be hurting the development of rugby in the country.
Otieno says that there should exist a junior national 7s circuit series so that players can be exposed to the basic fundamentals of the game at a tender age.
“We need to improve on our development structures. We should have a national 7s circuit ranging all the way from under-16 category,”Otieno says.
“We need to get our players to grow so that when they progress to the senior teams, they are ripe and ready for the big stage, “he adds.
“Our development structures are non-existent.Even when some top sides play, you will realize some basic mistakes such us off target passes and poor decision making and those are things players should be going through at a tender age,”he concludes.
