Webuye RFC head coach Jeff Khaoya says that his charges have picked valuable lessons from the concluded national 7s circuit.
The Nationwide side took part in all the 6 legs of the circuit, capping it all with a historic cup quarter final appearance in the Division one at the Dala 7s tournament where they were ousted by KCB and Khaoya says that rubbing shoulders with big guns was a good experience.
“Every outing has been a learning session. We have faced more experienced sides and this has helped us improve on our tactical awareness,”Khaoya is quoted by Kenya Rugby.
Webuye made 3 quarter final appearances in the Division two tournament as well as reaching the Christie 7s final where they fell to Makueni.
They had earlier claimed the plate title at the Kabeberi 7s and with most major sides opting out of the Dala 7s,the Bungoma-based side was drafted to the top tier where they made a surprise quarter final appearance.
“It has been a wonderful season having participated in all the 6 legs of the circuit.I think we have been competitive enough,”Khaoya concludes.
Webuye will now shift focus to the 15s season scheduled to get underway in November.
