Daystar Falcons head coach Caleb Bosire has termed Impala Floodlit Tournament as the best opportunity to test their structures and new recruits ahead of the new season.
The Athi river based side that competes in the nationwide league has been paired with championship side Catholic monks in a varsity derby slated to take place on the 4th November 2017, 3pm at the RFUEA grounds.
Bosire confirmed that they plan to use the tournament to introduce new players who have joined the university since they do not have the advantage of signing new players.
The side will also use the tournament to identify their weaknesses and find the right combinations ahead of the 2017/2018 nationwide league.
“It is a nicely organized tournament & we are always happy to participate. Floodies has always been the platform for us to introduce players who have just joined the University to competition right before start of the local league. It also gives us an opportunity to understand if our structures are any solid. It is also here that we spot our weaknesses going into the XV season proper,” Bosire told Impala’ official portal.
The coach remains optimistic of a semi-final berth having lost to USIU-Martials at the quarters stage in the Floodies 2016 but they have first to get the work done against top championship side Catholic Monks.
