Manawatu Turbo’s first five-eighth Otere Black is set to miss the better part of next year’s Super Rugby season with a knee injury.
Black, who signed with the Blues through to 2019 from the Hurricanes this year, ruptured anterior crucial knee ligament in Manawatu’s 46-25 Ranfurly Shield loss to Taranaki a week ago.
Black took an awkward fall during the game against Taranaki when trying to step and then was clutching his knee as soon as he hit the deck.
He will however be available for the Turbos during next year’s national Provincial Championship.
The player is currently the most experienced in the Blues fold and he was acquired to guide them from next year with the Super Rugby season set to get underway in February and run through to July.
