Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru has revealed that their main target at this weekend’s Dala 7s will be to clinch the cup title and finish the season on a high.
Oilers had a disappointing outing at last weekend’s Christie 7s where they only won a single match against Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in the group phase but still managed to sneak to the cup quarters and Weru says they will be out to post an improved perfomance in Kisumu.
“We have one more tournament to go.I want to keep on giving the fringe players chances so that they can be able to get the experience moving forward,”Weru told Scrummage.
“We shall go back to the drawing board and see what Dala has in store for us.We want to improve and atleast win a tournament because we have what it takes to do that,”he added.
The former Kenya 7s international says that they were eying a top 6 finish at the start of the season and they are well on course to achieving that.
“We are well on course and my target from the beginning was to finish among the top 6 teams. If we can win Dala we may even finish at a much higher position”Weru concluded.
Heading to the final leg of the national 7s circuit, the Nakuru-based side occupies 5th position on the log,5 points adrift of neighbours Nakuru RFC.
