Mwamba RFC coach Kevin Wambua says that the return of Michael Agevi and Collins Injera was key in enabling them clinch 5th position at Christie 7s.

Agevi was returning for the first time since picking an injury at Driftwood 7s while Injera was making his debut in this year’s circuit and coach Wambua believes that their presence was key in boosting the young player’s confidence.

“What really changed for us is that the more experienced players gave the other lads confidence even though they were not the fittest in the group having returned from injuries, “said Wambua.

Mwamba had their best performance this season which saw them finish top in their pool on the first day before falling to Impala Saracens in the cup quarters.

They would however redeem themselves with a resounding win over KCB to finish 5th and Wambua is content with the plate title.

“We were targetting to reach the semis since we had more experienced players back.”

“We slipped against Impala in the quarters where we failed to have possession so we decided to settle for the next thing which was the plate”he concluded.
