Christie 7s defending champions Kabras Rugby Club kicked off their campaign on a high note whipping Strathmore Leos 41-7 in the tournament’s opener.
Kabras found themselves trailing early in the match as the students went over for a converted try to take a 7-0 lead.
The Sugarmillers drew level after a patient build up as Dan Sikuta bulldozed his way to the tryline, touching down under the posts before Felix Ayange added the extras to tie the scores at 7-all.
Brian Tanga handed the Christie 7s defending champions the lead for the first time with a well taken try just before the break, ensuring that Charles Cardovillis charges led 14-7 at the interval.
The second half saw the Kakamega based club add more tries through Kenyan International Sikuta, Ugandan dangerman Philip Wokorach and Felix Ayange as they went on to win 41-7.
Kabras might book the quarter final slot early if they beat MKU in the second group match set for 1210 hours.
