KCB joined the likes of Kabras, Quins, Nakuru and Impala on the list of teams with a 100 percentage win record at Christie after beating Kenyatta University side Blak Blad 22-0 in a pool D match.
Shaban Ahmed put KCB into lead after sprinting past Blak Blad defence for a 7-0 lead. In the final half Martin Owila offload saw Arthur Owira score the second try for KCB. Kenya Simbas winger Jacob Ojee touched at the corner extending the lead while Andrew Amonde concluded the run with a try at between the sticks.
Oilers quarter final hopes received a blow after they fell to Daystar 19-14. Daystar took advantage Oilers complacency and scored three tries in the first half. A second half come back from Oilers was not enough to salvage the situation.
Big Guns through
Defending Champs Kabras registered another big win, beating promoted MKU Thika 34-5 in the second Pool A match. Ugandan International Philip Wokorach hit a brace in the match as Felix Ayange, Dan Sikuta and Jacob Okumba crossed the tryline each to sent the SugarMillers to the quarters.
Hosts Quins ended Leos dream to play in the quarters after handing them a 19-10 defeat. Kenya 15s centre David Ambunya, Puis Shiundu and Aaron Oforoth touched down and joined Kabras in the quarter final list.
Impala Saracens for the second time crossed the 30 point mark, beating Kisii 34-12. Timothy Makiya got a double as
Ian Mabwa, Ian Minjire, Davies Makori and Samuel Motari scored one each to hand Kisii the second straight loss of the tournament.
Monate Akwei’s brace was enough to give Nakuru a 12-7 victory over former Kenya Cup side Mean Machine.
Homeboyz bounced back from opening loss in style beating Nondies 52-7 in a pool C match.
Deejays skipper Jeff Olouch rose to ocassion forcing an opening try at the corner. Homeboyz added the second try before Olouch returned to scored sheet with his second try. Michael Wanjala, Leonard Mugaisi added two tries before halftime and widened the gap beyond Nondies reach.
Dennis Ombachi pulled one back for Nondies but Mark Wandeto responded with a converted try for 52-7 scoreline. Mwamba beat Western Bulls 30-7 and registered the second win of the weekend.
