Kenya 7s coach Innocent Simiyu believes that his charges have what it takes to top pool A at the Dubai 7s slated for December 1/2 in Dubai.

According to the draw conducted on 12 October 2017,Shujaa is in pool A alongside familiar foes South Africa,Uganda and Canada and Simiyu says that the pool provides them with the chance to determine Africa’s finest in the shorter version of the game.

” We have a exiting pool with two local derbies to sort out bragging rights. We will have our mini ‘King of Africa 7s’ competiton in the pool. I know we have enough firepower to top the pool.”Simiyu told KRU.

“Uganda are the recently crowned African 7s champions and some of their key players are currently playing in our local sevens circuit. South Africa are the reigning World Sevens Series champions and we have come close to beating them last year on numerous occasions, losing by a conversion or a late try. Canada had a good season last year and play a well structured game. We have beat them a few times last year and we cant leave anything”he added.

A provisional squad of 12 players is currently in training with others expected to be selected from the on going national 7s circuit before the side heads to South Africa for their pre-season assignments.

,”Our preparations are going on well and the boys are also playing in the local circuit, where we will be selecting the team for the year 2017-18. We are planning to use Assupol 7s in South Africa and Safland 7s in Namibia as build ups to Dubai.”he concluded.
