Impala Saracens may have to do without Kenya 7s star Derrick Mayar as they compete in the fifth leg of the National 7s Circuit at RFUEA Grounds on Saturday and Sunday.
According to Impala 7s coach Oscar Osir, the player has a groin strain which he picked while he was training with the National team.
Osir feels that Mayar contribution in the team during the Prinsloo and Sepetuka 7s has been immense and his absence will be a disadvantage to the team.
“It is unfortunate that Derrick Mayar suffered a groin strain while training with the Kenya 7s this week. Having a national team player actively playing for the team is an advantage we cannot downplay. He has progressed well from Prinsloo going into Sepetuka, Osir told Impala official portal.
‘I am however sure Mayar, more than anybody else would want to see another forward take up the chance and express himself. I wish him a quick recovery,” he added.
Impala who have made two final appearances this season have a date with Nakuru RFC, Mean Machine and Kisii.
