Kabras RFC coach Charles Cardovillis has hailed youngsters Jacob Okumba and Dominic Osino after their stellar display led the side to the Sepetuka 7s cup victory in Eldoret.
Okumba and Osino were instrumental in Kabras’ campaign during the two-day tournament as the Sugarmillers dismissed teams letting in only 4 tries, all coming on the second day.
“Iam happy for these young guys because no one expected them to perform this well..They are homegrown boys from Kakamega and I am really excited with how they have grown through the ranks..they are scoring tries, defending well and helping the team get a result,”Cardovillis told Scrummage.
Okumba, a former Malava Boys student is one of the longest serving players at Kabras Rugby. He has been with the club since it was established in 2013.
The winger has become a regular starter in the team under the leadership of Coach Cardovillis. Osino on the other hand has been with the Sugarmen for close to two seasons after having joined the side after his high school days in Nyabondo.
Cardovillis will be hoping to see the two impress in Nairobi as Kabras seek to defend the Christie 7s title which they won last season.
At Christie 7s,the side is seeded top and they will come up against hosts Sportpesa Quins,Strathmore Leos and Mombasa RFC in pool A.
