University of Johannesburg will face off with Kenyan University overall Champions United States International University (USIU) in the finals of the Kings Rugby at Maseno Grounds.
USIU had to fight back to eliminate Mount Kenya University in the second Semi final match. MKU who have had an impressive run in the 7s tournament took a lead with a five pointer while USIU replied with a converted try.
MKU would then stretch the lead to 19-7 but Dennis Mwanja coached side ran three tries converting one to win the match.
University of Johannesburg had to toil hard to eliminate Kenya Cup side Blak Blad by a 7-5 margin.
After tight opening half without tries, Blad scored first in the final half but their missed conversion turned out to be costly. Johannesburg scored late in the match and converted their try to proceed to the finals.
In the plate Semis Technical university of Mombasa had to rely on a sudden death try to beat Kabarak. At full time the side were tied at 21-21.
TUM will now battle MMUST for the plate title after the latter bounced back from the quarter final loss and beat Daystar 10-7.
SEKU are through to the Challenge trophy final after seeing off host side Maseno University21-10.They will face off against UOE who were given a bye to the final following the late withdrawal of the University of Nairobi.
