Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru says that fatigue was the major cause for his side’s 36-0 humiliation at the hands of Kabras RFC at the Sepetuka 7s semi final in Eldoret last weekend.
The Nakuru based side had a good outing on the first day of the tournament, winning all 3 pool matches before having to rely on sudden death to labor past Quins in the quarters but their journey was cut short by Kabras RFC in the cup semis.
Weru admits that the quarter final drained his players as fatigue was evident in their clash against Kabras.
“I think the quarter final match against Quins drained us alot because we played for over 20 minutes..Iam very proud of the boys despite the two losses on the second day,”Weru told Scrummage.
A fourth place finish at the inaugural Sepetuka 7s tournament saw Weru’s charges drop a place in the national 7s circuit standings as they are currently ranked 4th with 58 points after 4 legs.
