Jacob Okumba grabbed 4 tries as Kabras RFC whipped Menengai Oilers 36-0 on Sunday 1 October to reach the cup final at the ongoing Sepetuka 7s in Eldoret.
Kabras took an early lead as Okumba went over but Brian Tanga failed to convert before they added a second courtesy of Fidel Oloo this time the conversion being successful.
Okumba would then add 3 more tries to his name with Felix Ayange converting on two occasions before Oloo and Ayange completed the rout ensuring that Kabras sailed to the cup final for the first time in this year’s circuit with a 36-0 win.
Kabras will now tackle Impala in the cup final later today after the latter brushed aside Homeboyz RFC 26-19 in the other semi final match.
Impala took an early lead through a converted try by Mark Kwemoi but Homeboyz found a perfect response as Bush Mwale touched down between the posts with Michael Wanjala converting to tie the scores.
Samson Onsomu restored Impala’s advantage with a try before Homeboyz levelled matters at 12-all,this time Humphrey Mulama doing the job.Homeboyz were dealt a major blow as Bush Mwale was sent to the sin bin and Impala utilized the numerical advantage,grabbing a try that was converted by Mark Kwemoi to take a 19-12 lead.
Homeboyz were awarded a penalty try but it wasn’t enough. Impala claimed a 26-19 win to sail to the cup final for the second time in this year’s national 7s circuit.
Western Bulls caused yet another upset,touching down twice to edge Nakuru RFC 12-10 in the 5th place semi final.Tries by Gramwel Bunyasi and Monate Akwei were not enough for Nakuru as Bulls made it to the 5th place final.
Bulls will contest the 5th place final with KCB who walloped Sportpesa Quins 22-5 courtesy of a Stafford Abekah brace and Davies Chenge try.Quins’ consolation was scored by Mark Okemwa.
Mean Machine reached the final of the challenge trophy after putting up a good showing to dismiss Kenya cup side Mwamba RFC 19-14 in the semis.
Machine are set to come up against another univesity side StrathmoreLeos in the Challenge trophy final.Strathmore managed to labor to a 17-12 victory over Blak Blad.
Nondies finally grabbed their first win of the tournament after brushing aside Makueni 10-5 in the 13th place semi finals.The Kenya cup side is now set to contest for 13th place with Catholic Monks who saw off MKU Thika 24-5.
