Samuel Motari helped himself to a brace of tries as Impala Saracens mauled Prinsloo 7s champions KCB 29-5 in the opening clash of the 2017 Sepetuka 7s this Saturday,September 30 at the Eldoret Sports Club.
Impala drew first blood early on in the clash as Paul Mutsami went over the whitewash but youngster Mark Kwemoi failed to add the extras with his boot as the Sarries took a 5-0 lead.
Soon afterwards Impala added to their tally as Samuel Motari helped himself to a try and this time Mark Kwemoi’s resultant conversion was successful to hand the Ngong Road based side a 12-0 advantage.
KCB who were without their key trio of Darwin Mukidza,Martin Owilah and Jacob Ojee were finding the going tough as they conceded a third try just before the break,Samuel Motari going over for his second of the match to ensure Impala led 17-0 at halftime.
After resumption,Kenya Simbas scrumhalf Samson Onsomu extended Impala’s lead with a try that was not converted before KCB pulled one back courtesy of Isaac Njoroge as the scores read 22-5 in Impala’s favour.
Ian Mabwa put the icing on the cake for Impala as he raced over 40 meters to the tryline before Kwemoi converted to hand Impala a 29-5 win.
Impala will take on Mwamba in their second pool A clash as KCB confront Catholic Monks.The bankers final pool game will be a tie against Mwamba with Impala playing Catholic Monks.
