KCB managed to finish top in pool D at the ongoing Prinsloo 7s tournament after brushing aside bitter rivals Kabras RFC 29-12 at the Nakuru Athletic club on Saturday, September 23.

Going into the clash,both KCB and the Sugarmillers had already booked quarter final berths and it was a matter of playing for top position in the pool D.

Shaban Ahmed gave KCB the lead with a well taken try before Arthur Owira and Kenya 7s skipper Andrew Amonde touched down to hand them a well deserved 19-0 lead as Kabras were pinned in their backyard.

Kabras pulled a try back after fantastic play to ensure the scores read 19-5 in KCB’s favour at halftime.

After resumption,KCB added two more tries courtesy of on form player Shaban Ahmed and Martin Owilah to give KCB a 29-12 win and ensure that they finished top of pool D going into Sunday’s quarter finals.

Hosts Nakuru RFC ensured that their unblemished record remained intact as they beat Blak Blad 17-7 confirming their quarter final qualification in the process.

Nakuru scored through Kevin Kioko’s brace and Philip Kwame’s single try as Wesley Kidinga landed Blad’s consolation.

Elsewhere,Mwamba RFC had to come from behind to see off Western Bulls 19-10 and sneak into the cup quarters.

Mean Machine ensured that they finished third in pool C with a 27-12 mauling of Mombasa hence securing a Challenge trophy quarter final slot.

MKU Thika pipped Catholic Monks to third spot in group D after outwitting their opponents 21-7.

Impala Saracens dropped to the challenge trophy after going down 17-10 to Nondies in their final pool A clash.

Menengai Oilers finally claimed their first win of the day after stunning already qualified Sportpesa Quins 12-5.

Homeboyz ensured that they qualified to the cup quarters with a hundred percent winning record as they blew aside Starthmore Leo’s 33-7,a side that they lost to at the Kabeberi 7s quarter finals.

Homeboyz scored through Michael Wanjala’s brace,Zeden Marrow and Tony Onyango as Alex Olaba pulled one back for the students at the break.
