The Kenya Lionesses have failed to qualify for next year’s sevens world cup after narrowly falling 17-12 to bitter rivals South Africa in the Africa cup 7s final staged in Tunisia on Sunday September 17.
Kevin Wambua’s charges managed two tries one of which was not converted as the South Africans once again for a third consecutive time denied the Lionesses a world cup berth after touching down thrice.
Enroute the final,the Lionesses walloped Morrocco 47-0 in the quarter finals in a clash which Sinaida Aura helped himself to 4 tries with Celestine Masinde and Sheila Chajira also getting their names onto the scoresheet.
They would come up against host side Tunisia in the semis,seeing them off 26-7 courtesy of Janett Okello’s brace and captain Philadelphia Olando’s single touchdown.
The Lionesses have however made it to the commonwealth games after reaching the cup finals in Tunisia.
