Kenyan international Willy Ambaka started at left wing to help his side secure a much needed 23-10 victory away at Waikato in the Mitre 10 cup on Saturday, September 16.

Manawatu went to the clash without the services of key player Nehe Milner-Skudder and they found themselves trailing as Waikato took the lead courtesy of Petr Akhis try.

Trailing 5-3 at the break, Turbos introduced Ambrose Curtis who took Ambaka’s place early in the second half as they mounted a strong comeback that was inspired by tries from Jamie Booth and Harrison Bruer as Jade Terure slotted in 2 penalties.

The win over Waikato is only the second for Manawatu in the Mitre 10 cup campaign.
