Menengai Oilers’ head coach Gibson Weru admits that stage fright might have played a key role in their Kabeberi 7s cup final loss to Impala.
Oilers were unconvincing in the cup final as they were pinned by the Sarries for the better parts of the match, only managing a single try courtesy of Derrick Mbairi and Weru admits that none of the Oilers players had before that day featured in a final and therefore stage fright was evident.
“Every loss is a learning session for us because we are a young side..the boys will get better with time because non of them had played in a final of this magnitude before and i think the stage was too big for them,”said Weru.
Despite loosing to Impala twice in the same tournament with the first loss coming on day one at the pool stage matches,Weru was satisfied with second position.
“Am very excited having come second..we have done well..yesterday we lost to Impala and today we have lost to them yet again in the final but we take every loss as a learning session,”he concluded.
