Kenya Lionesses are set to go to a residential camp in Mombasa ahead of the Africa Cup 7s tournament slated for September 16-17 in Tunisia.
The team’s head coach Kevin Wambua said that they chose Mombasa because the climate in Tunisia is almost similar so they have to acclimatize with the conditions.
“We shall travel to Mombasa on Wednesday (today) for a camp just to acclimatize before we head to the tournament,”said Wambua.
Wambua is optimistic that his charges will sail through having landed in pool B alongside Zimbabwe,Senegal and Madagascar.
“Its a favourable draw..with all respect to all the other countries..the girls are psyched up..We want to polish on a few areas here and there especially the technical aspect of the game just before we travel to Tunisia. We have been in non-residential training for close to 10 weeks..”
“There are few new faces in the team..it is a blend of youth and experience and there will be some new faces making the cut in the squad. Our target is to win the Africa Cup 7s and play at next year’s world cup,”he concluded.
