Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru says that they will work on mental strength as it is the only reason why they failed to be crowned cup champions at Driftwood.
Speaking in Mombasa where his side finished third after seeing off Mean Machine, the former Kenya 7s international further added that they aim at finishing in the top six in this year’s circuit.
“Reaching the semis is no mean feat but its something we worked torwards..We are in our second year and our target for this year was to finish in the top six keeping in mind that its a young side.”
“Am very very happy..i didnt expect this kind of perfomance from the team..the only thing that detered us from winning the tournament is the mental aspect of the game and we are working on it.”
Menengai Oilers put up a good showing at the Driftwood 7s as they upset Mwamba in the pool stages before stunning Impala in the main cup quarters.Their journey would however end at the hands of Homeboyz in the semis.
