Kenya Simbas team manager Wangila Simiyu has explained why KCB RFC centre Peter Kilonzo was named to start in the second test against Hong Kong slated for Saturday 26 August 2017 in Nairobi.
Speaking to Kenya Rugby after naming the 23 man Simbas squad set to do duty on Saturday,Wangila said that Kilonzo’s inclusion was necessitated by the absence of Quins player David Ambunya who is currently sidelined after picking up a shoulder injury.
“Kilonzo has been knocking on the door and after being part of the set up,gets his opportunity to don the colours and roar with the rest of the pride on Saturday. He comes in for David Ambunya who is nursing a shoulder injury,”said Wangila.
In the squad named on Wednesday morning,Kilonzo was handed a start at centre which will see him partner Impala’s Leo Seje who also made his debut this year in the Africa Gold Cup tie against Tunisia at the RFUEA grounds.
The simbas are set to confront Hong Kong for the second time in a span of five days at the RFUEA grounds on Saturday August 26 starting 1600hrs.The first test last weekend ended 19 all.
