Defending East Africa Rugby 15s Champions Kakamega High School’s hopes of reclaiming the title were dealt a major blow as they fell 42-19 to compatriots Laiser Hill Academy.
In what was a repeat of the Kenyan national final played at Nairobi school in April, the Kevin Wambua coached charges showed their intent from the start as they sought to claim revenge against their familiar foes having lost to them 18-14 at the nationals final.
Laiser Hill are now two wins away from dethroning Kakamega as the East Africa Champions. The Kajiado based side may be crowned East African champions if they win their remaining two matches all of which are against Ugandan opposition.
Having won all their 4 matches and claiming bonus points on three occasions,Laiser Hill have so far amassed 18 points against Kakamega’s 19 points.Kakamega has however played a game more thus putting their chances of defending the title in disarray.
Other Kenyan representatives Upper Hill were also in action, thrashing Uganda’s Ntare 60-0 as Namilyango edged compatriots Mbarara 12-3.
The action is set to continue on Thursday 24th August and conclude on Friday when the Rugby champions will be decided.
