On Saturday 29 July 2017,the Kenya Simbas will take to the Hage Geinghob stadium in Windhoek to tackle hosts Namibia in a crunch Africa Gold cup clash that will decide the continent’s finest.
The Simbas hold a poor record against Namibia as they have managed to win on only 2 occassions in the nine matches they have played against the South African country who have managed to claim victory on seven occasions.
In last season’s meeting between the two sides in Windhoek,Namibia managed to claim a 56-21 victory against 14 man Kenya as Impala Saracens’ player Simon Muniafu saw red.
In 2014,Simbas managed to beat Namibia 26-12 after the inclusion of some of their sevens players into the team in a match staged in Madagascar.
Namibia currently sit top of the Africa Gold Cup standings 3 points more than their Saturday opponents, the Kenya Simbas who lie in 2nd position.
The Namibian’s will definitely go into the clash as favourites having won all their 4 matches in the Africa Gold Cup with the latest one being a 48-24 demolition of Uganda Cranes in Kampala while Kenya Simbas managed to see off a resolute Zimbabwe side 41-22 in Bulawayo.
For Kenya Simbas to clinch the Africa Gold Cup,they have their work cut out as they must win the contest by ensuring that Namibia do not claim a loosing bonus point.
If Kenya Simbas win with a bonus point, they will as well be crowned the new champions of the continent. The match will kick of at 1800hrs EAT.
