Impala Saracens squad is optimistic of recording their first ever win against Kabras in Kakamega as they clash in the Enterprise cup semi finals this weekend.
Impalas’ head coach, Frank Ndong said that his team is positive that this will be their chance to beat the sugarmen in their home ground after recording close finishes in their previous clashes.
“We have never beaten Kabras in Kakamega. The boys are motivated to correct this. There is strong belief in the camp that the time has come after some close finishes”, he told Impala official portal.
Ndong says that he has some surprise in store that will help deal with his opponents fast runners like Jone Kubu and Philip Wokorach.
“Kabras enjoy close combat rugby and have some nimble runners like Jone Kubu and Philip Wokorach in their spine which we’ll have to deal with. We have some surprises for them too”, said Ndong.
He revealed that part of their strategy to avoid injuries prior to the game they have had to reduce the intensity of their training.
“We must be quick off blocks and avoid playing catch up.We intend to stick to our game plan and structure should be fine. Training has been competitive, we have had to tone it down a bit to avoid injuries. I am sure Kabras will be praying for rain, which suits their style”, he concluded.
Kabras beat Impala 24-5 at the same stage last season. The Gazelles have failed to be beat Kabras in last five attempts.
